Cullman, AL – Dr. Stephen A. Gould, MD, FAAOS, a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine specialist, is recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field of orthopedics. He is currently with Cullman Regional Medical Group - Orthopedics & Sports. Dr. Gould earned his Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science from Johns Hopkins University in 2003, where he also played Division I lacrosse. He received his medical degree from Stony Brook University School of Medicine in 2009, followed by an orthopedic residency at NYU Langone Medical Center Hospital for Joint Diseases in 2013. He completed a prestigious fellowship in sports medicine at the renowned Andrews Sports Medicine Institute in 2015.

Throughout his career, Dr. Gould has demonstrated a deep commitment to research and education. He was awarded the Senior Resident Research Award at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in 2014 and later received the American Sports Medicine Fellowship Society Research Paper Award in 2015. Dr. Gould is a distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and has served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). During his tenure, he acted as a team physician for UAB athletics, including football and baseball, and served as the team doctor for the Birmingham Legion professional soccer team.

Dr. Gould brings extensive experience in shoulder and upper arm surgery, with a strong focus on sports-related injuries. His clinical expertise and commitment to patient care have made him a trusted specialist in the Cullman region and beyond.
